Background
Integrity Unit was established in May 2014 in accordance of the Service Circular No. 6 2013. This Unit is responsible directly to the Ministry’s Secretary General.
It serves as a focal point for the management of integrity issues in the Ministry of Transport. This Unit is responsible for the execution of six main functions:
- Good Governance
- Integrity Enrichment
- Identification and Verification
- Complaints Management
- Compliance
- Discipline
Client's Charter
- Identify and verify complaints in regards to criminal misconduct and violation of the code of conduct and ethics of the organisation within one (1) month from the date of the opening of files.
- Responds to the complaints concerning criminal misconduct and ethics of the organisation within three (3) months from the date the complaints received.
- Information and identity of the informer are confidential under the existing laws.
- Inculcate and institutionalise the implementation of integrity in the Ministry of Transport.
Functions
Integrity Unit Functions are:
- Good Governance
To ensure the implementation of good governance;
- Integrity Enrichment
To inculcate, institutionalise and implement the concept of integrity in organisation;
- Identification and Verification
To identify and verify complaints in regards to criminal misconduct and the violation of the code of conduct and ethics of the organisation and ensure appropriate actions are taken; and
To report criminal misconduct to responsible enforcement agencies;
- Complaints Management
To receive and respond to all complaints and information concerning violation of criminal misconduct and ethics of the organisation;
- Compliance
To ensure the compliance of laws and regulations enforced, and;
- Discipline
To function as the secretariat of the Disciplinary Board

“To coordinate all matters pertaining to integrity under one main Unit as to implement the institutional initiatives of integrity, compliance, deterrent, good governance, identification of misconduct and punitive actions with more focus, planned, efficient and to achieve optimum outcome.”
