Information Management Division

​​​Background

Information Management Division has been established in the Ministry of Transport (MOT) on October 1, 2008 to replace the Information Technology Unit. The establishment is consistent with MOT restructuring program that takes into account the growing number of users and the current needs of the ICT, ICT governance and it’s responsible for determining the direction of policy and strategy for ICT development besides monitor agencies’ ICT programs.​ ​​

Client's Charter

  • Take action on technical issues raised within three (3) working hours.
  • Create an e-mail account for users within one (1) working days from the completed application received date.
  • Updating Website MOT within three (3) days from the completed application received date.
  • Plan and organize ICT training to MOT staff at least four (4) times a year.
  • Organise ICT Steering Committee Meeting (JPICT) at least four (4) times a year.
  • Processing ICT projects applications for ICT Steering Committee, Ministry of Transport (JPICT) approval, as follows:​
    1. Within ten (10) working days from the completed application received date for the application worth RM 500,000.00 and below and;
    2. Within fifteen (15) working days from the completed application received date for applications exceeding RM 500,000.00.
  • Providing ICT Project Study Report for divisions within MOT after the application is received within the stipulated time frame as follows:
    1. Studies involving the specific issues in a section but does not involve the overall management of the ministry and completed within a period not exceeding three (3) months;
    2. Studies involving all aspects of ministry and completed within a period not exceeding six (6) months, and
    3. Horizontalization study involving various agencies and completed within a period not exceeding one (1) year.
  • Ensure that issues and complaints answered within three (3) working days.

Functions

  • Identify requirements, coordinate and implement ICT projects in the Ministry.
  • Coordinate and implement Electronic Government programs at Ministry level.
  • Monitor and coordinate Ministry’s agencies ICT projects.
  • Provides reliable and secured ICT infrastructure.
  • Planning, develop and maintain Ministry’s application systems.
  • Implement ICT trainings and ICT acculturation programs
  • Provide advisory and technical support for ICT users.

Objectives

Improving the ICT usage and implementing ICT programs in the Ministry with the following main functions:

  • Implement Ministry's ICT operation by handling and maintaining the ICT infrastructure; and
  • Develop and maintain Ministry’s application systems.
