PROJECT INFO

The Electrified Double Track Gemas-Johor Bahru Rail Project is a project under the Malaysian Ministry of Transport that will complement the current Electrified Train Service (ETS) that runs from Padang Besar in the north of Peninsular Malaysia to Gemas.



The Electrified Double Track Gemas-Johor Bahru Rail Project will begin in Gemas and will cover 4 main districts in Johor which are Segamat, Kluang, Kulai and Johor Bahru, ending at JB Sentral.


MAIN OBJECTIVES

  • To improve the quality of rail infrastructure
  • To provide a better quality, conducive, safe and passenger-friendly train service
  • To improve rail safety for operations

  • Public Toilet with Disabled Facilities
  • Elevator and Ramp (including Railing)

  • Passenger Information and Announcement System

  • “Auxiliary” Police (Polis Bantuan) Room

  • Covered Train Platform (including Passengers’ Waiting Hall)

  • Disabled-Friendly Walking Access

PROJECT BENEFITS

  • Estimated Travel Time between KL Sentral-JB Sentral: 3 hours and 30 minutes
  • Frequency of 22 train services a day
  • Seating Capacity of 346 passengers per train
  • Track Distance is 192km through 11 stations
  • Designed Speed is 160Km/h
  • Targeted operational start date: October 2021
