​ROAD SAFETY

Road safety plan for 2014-2020

The Ministry of Transport has launched a Road Safety Plan 2014 - 2020 (PKJRM 2014-2020) in November 2014 in an effort to improve road safety in Malaysia on par with developed countries. The plan is a continuation of the Road Safety Plan 2006 - 2010 (PKJRM 2006-2010). The plan is also in line with global efforts through the United Nations Decade of Action for Road Safety 2011 - 2020 with a goal to stabilize and then reduce the forecast level of road accident fatalities by 50% by 2020 worldwide through the implementation of various activities and initiatives road safety. This plan was drawn up by five (5) Strategic Pillars as follows:

Under PKJRM 2014 - 2020, the Ministry had set a target to reduce the mortality index to 2.0 in 2020 and are optimistic that this goal can be achieved with the cooperation of various government and private agencies in a comprehensive and thoroughly.
