Strategic Planning and International Division (SPID) was established on January 1, 2015 through the merger of Policy and International Division and the Parliament and Cabinet Division. The merger was carried out under the Ministry of Transport’s organisational restructuring and strengthening program approved via Establishment Warrant No. K 32 Year 2015 by the Ministry of Finance.
SPID is responsible for spearheading efforts to formulate policies and direction of the Ministry of Transport in accordance with the Government to strengthen the country's transport sector. These tasks include managing domestic and international policy planning in the transport sector, the development of the transport industry as well as matters related to facilitation and regulatory national transport sector. This section also be responsible to spearhead the initiative and Bumiputera Economic Empowerment program (PEB) in the transport sector. SPID is also the focal point for all international cooperation initiatives either the transport sector and multilateral regional level. SPID was also given the responsibility to coordinate all matters pertaining to Parliament and the Cabinet level ministry.
PID organizational structure consisting of four (4) units as follows:
- Policy Unit (Transport Industry Development, Transport Facilitation, Regulatory and Strategic Management);
- Bumiputera Economic Empowerment Unit (PEB);
- International Unit; and
- Parliamentary Assembly and the Cabinet.
